Bluetooth has quietly become the common language of short-range connectivity. It runs in the global 2.4 GHz ISM band, fits into almost every phone and tablet, and keeps getting more energy efficient with each version. (1)
~에 랜시텍, we build on 블루투스 저에너지(BLE) for tags, labels 그리고 wearables, then add Bluetooth AoA (Angle of Arrival) where you need sub-meter indoor positioning. The result is a practical tracking stack for hospitals, warehouses, vehicle yards and campuses.
What Is Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)?
BLE is a variant of Bluetooth designed for short, bursty data and very low power use. It still uses 2.4 GHz, but with 40 narrow channels and a simple advertising model that lets devices broadcast small packets without maintaining a heavy connection. (1)
That makes BLE ideal for 비콘 and tags. A beacon simply advertises an ID and optional telemetry. Nearby phones or 게이트웨이 pick up the packets and forward them to the cloud. The payloads are small, the duty cycle is low, and coin-cell batteries can last from many months to several years. (2)
BLE also sits on mature standards such as iBeacon and Eddystone, so you can mix Lansitec 하드웨어 with existing mobile apps and third-party systems without reinventing the protocol layer.
How Lansitec Uses BLE for Indoor and Outdoor Tracking
We typically use BLE as the “edge radio” and combine it with LoRaWAN, Cat-1, NB-IoT or Ethernet backhaul. Beacons talk to nearby gateways, and the gateways send everything upstream.
BLE Beacons and Tags
Lansitec offers several BLE 비콘, each tuned to a specific form factor:
- i3 휴대용 블루투스 태그 – compact label with multi-frame iBeacon broadcasting and built-in motion sensing, ideal for equipment or ID badges.
- i5 웨어러블 블루투스 비콘 – IP67 bracelet beacon for patients, residents and staff, with configurable iBeacon intervals and multi-year battery life at typical settings.
- B002 블루투스 라벨 – ultra-thin BLE sticker label built on iBeacon, designed to sit on medical devices, boxes or personal items.
Other models such as B003, B004, B005, B006, 비010 그리고 B011 extend this into badges, industrial housings and helmet beacons, with optional AoA support where needed.
In practice, our customers mix several of these in one project. We have seen i3 labels on assets, B006 badges on staff, and B010 industrial beacons on forklifts, all feeding into the same Bluetooth infrastructure.
BLE Gateways
On the gateway side, Lansitec focuses on BLE-to-LoRaWAN and BLE-to-IP bridges:
- 실내 블루투스 게이트웨이 receives up to hundreds of BLE beacons and forwards their data over LoRaWAN, which means no monthly network fees for long-range backhaul.
- 매크로 블루투스 게이트웨이 runs on a high-capacity battery and is built for wide-area coverage in industrial environments.
- 태양광 블루투스 게이트웨이 (Cat-1 or LoRaWAN versions) is designed for remote yards and fields, powered by a solar panel and rechargeable battery.
The typical pattern is simple: BLE beacons speak locally, Lansitec gateways aggregate that traffic, and your platform receives normalized data over MQTT, HTTP or your preferred integration path.
What Is Bluetooth AoA (Angle of Arrival)?
Bluetooth 5.1 introduced a feature called Direction Finding with AoA and AoD. In an AoA setup, the tag sends a BLE packet with a special Constant Tone Extension (CTE), and an antenna array at the gateway samples phase differences between its antennas to estimate the angle from which the signal arrived. (2,3)
If you combine several AoA gateways in known positions, you can triangulate a tag’s location in real time. Accuracy typically improves to the 0.1–1 meter range, compared to 3–10 meters for classic RSSI-only BLE positioning in similar conditions. (4)
AoA does require more careful RF design and installation, but the benefit is clear: you can see which bed, which rack or which bay a tag is in, not just which room. Lansitec builds this capability into its AG series AoA gateways.
Lansitec Bluetooth AoA Positioning Architecture
Our AoA stack uses AoA-capable gateways as anchors and AoA-ready beacons as tags. The gateways run the antenna array and initial angle calculations, then forward data to a positioning engine.
AoA 게이트웨이
On the gateway side, you can choose between indoor and outdoor AoA anchors:
- AG3 위치 게이트웨이 is a high-precision indoor Bluetooth 5.1 AoA gateway with sub-meter accuracy (0.1–1 m), IP66 housing, and 4G, 5G or Wi-Fi backhaul. It is widely used in warehouses, visitor facilities and large indoor sites.
- AG1 위치 게이트웨이, an AoA gateway with Ethernet and PoE, designed for semi-outdoor or industrial indoor spaces, also rated for sub-meter positioning and IP66 protection.
- AG4 야외 AoA 게이트웨이 is optimized for outdoor yards and open industrial sites, with up to 0.1 m positioning accuracy, PoE or DC power and mounting heights up to 30 meters.
Together, these models cover typical indoor, semi-outdoor and outdoor AoA scenarios. We have seen deployments that mix AG3 inside warehouses and AG4 around vehicle yards to keep one coherent map of people, assets and vehicles.
AoA Compatible Beacons and Tags
Most AoA projects reuse the same BLE hardware you already know:
- i3 휴대용 블루투스 태그
- i5 웨어러블 블루투스 비콘
- B002/B003/B004 label and compact beacons
- B005, B006, 비010 그리고 B011 for heavier industrial or badge-style deployments
These devices implement BLE advertising (often iBeacon) and, in AoA variants, support CTE so that AG series gateways can measure angles precisely.
BLE vs AoA in Lansitec: Which Positioning Approach To Choose?
You do not always need AoA. In many projects, BLE plus RSSI is enough.
| 측면 | BLE + RSSI Positioning | Bluetooth AoA Positioning |
|---|---|---|
| Typical accuracy | Roughly 3–10 m indoors, good for room or zone level | Around 0.1–1 m in real deployments, suitable for lane, rack or bed level |
| Infrastructure | Fewer, cheaper gateways, simpler RF planning | AoA gateways with antenna arrays, more careful placement |
| Common use cases | Presence detection, room level tracking, geo-fencing | Precise tracking of people, vehicles, tools and safety zones |
| Tag hardware | Standard BLE beacons or wearables | Same BLE beacons, often with AoA capable firmware |
| Typical Lansitec hardware | Indoor/Macro/Solar Bluetooth Gateways | AG1, AG3, AG4 AoA Gateways with i3, i5, B002–B011 beacons |
A simple rule of thumb:
- 사용 BLE + RSSI when you only need to know if an asset or person is in a building, a wing or a room.
- 사용 블루투스 AOA when you care about exact spots such as specific beds, racks, lanes, gates or hazardous zones. (4)
Deployment Best Practices
We have learned a few practical rules from real deployments.
Radio and Coverage Planning
- Start with a quick 2.4 GHz survey to understand existing Wi-Fi and interference.
- Mount BLE and AoA gateways with clear lines of sight whenever possible.
- Respect installation guidelines such as “coverage up to twice the mounting height” for AG3 and AG4, and follow recommended maximum heights (for example up to 15 m for AG3, up to 30 m for AG4).
Power and Maintenance
- Prefer PoE for AG1 and AG4 where Ethernet is available. It simplifies cabling and lets you centralize power backup.
- In remote areas, Macro or Solar Bluetooth Gateways avoid trenching and can run for years using large batteries or solar panels.
Integration
- Lansitec gateways export data to common IoT platforms, either your own stack or third-party systems such as ThingsBoard or TagoIO.
- We usually recommend a simple REST or MQTT integration during pilots, then a more structured API when the project scales.
자주 묻는 질문
About Bluetooth, BLE and AoA
How accurate is Lansitec Bluetooth AoA positioning compared to standard BLE beacons?
Standard BLE with RSSI usually provides several meters of accuracy indoors, enough for zones or rooms. Our AoA gateways (AG1, AG3, AG4) use Bluetooth 5.1 Direction Finding and antenna arrays to reach roughly 0.1–1 m accuracy in well designed deployments. (4)
Which Lansitec beacons support Bluetooth AoA?
AoA projects typically use models listed in our Bluetooth AoA category, including B002, B003, B004, i3 Portable Bluetooth Tag, i5 Wearable Bluetooth Beacon, B005, B006, B010 and our B011 Helmet Beacon.
Do I need smartphones, or can I run everything on gateways?
Most Lansitec solutions rely on gateways, not phones. BLE beacons talk to Indoor, Macro, Solar or AoA gateways, and those gateways push processed data to your backend. Phones are optional for local apps or commissioning.
What is the typical battery life of a Lansitec beacon?
Battery life depends on model, transmission power and interval. As a rough guide, B002 labels and i3 tags can run for several years at a 5 second interval, while the i5 bracelet typically achieves up to around 2 years at 0 dBm and 5 second intervals.
Can I mix BLE RSSI gateways and AoA gateways in one deployment?
Yes. Many customers start with standard BLE gateways for coarse coverage and then add AG series AoA gateways in critical zones that need higher accuracy, such as loading docks, operating rooms or hazardous work areas.
