What is "B-Fixed®" Solution?

“B-Fixed” refers to “Bluetooth Beacon Fixed".
In this solution, Bluetooth Beacons are deployed at fixed locations to be used as beacons for indoor tracking.
Trackers are deployed on asset or personnel.

How it works?

Lansitec B-Fixed® Solution allows you to track assets and people by combining fixed Bluetooth Beacons with LoRaWAN or NB-IoT/LTE-M enabled Trackers. The beacons advertise their presence, which is picked up by the trackers in range. The trackers then transmit the beacon data over long-range networks, allowing you to pinpoint locations.

Utilize the long-range and low-power benefits of the LoRaWAN protocol. With up to 5 km range in urban and 20+ km in rural environments, a single LoRaWAN gateway can cover a large area. It is ideal for large indoor/outdoor sites like factories, construction zones, tunnels and more. LoRaWAN delivers reliable asset and personnel tracking at a massive scale.

The LoRaWAN variant of the B-Fixed solution utilizes the Chirp Spread Spectrum modulation, which gives it long-range capability and resistance to interference. Multiple LoRaWAN gateways are deployed across a site to pick up transmissions from trackers within range. These lightweight trackers detect Bluetooth beacons installed at fixed positions and transmit the beacon IDs over LoRaWAN when in proximity. The data is sent to a LoRaWAN network server and then the application server calculates location based on gateway reception data.

The Battery life can exceed 5 years for the trackers as LoRaWAN has ultra-low power requirements for transmission and operation. The badge and asset trackers leverage this to enable persistent tracking across very large or remote sites.

Device Deployment and Data Flow

Wearing a Tracker on personnel or attach it to asset which collects the nearby Bluetooth Beacon messages. The Tracker then forwards Major, Minor, and RSSI to the server via the wireless LoRa network. Since the server knows the coordinates of the Beacon, the server calculates the Tracker’s location with Algorithm.

When badge trackers and asset trackers come in a range of fixed Bluetooth beacons, they relay the beacon info over NB-IoT, which uses licensed cellular spectrum bands. This data goes to an MQTT broker server, which handles positional calculations.

Device Deployment and Data Flow

Deploy the Bluetooth Beacons at fixed positions. Trackers receive Bluetooth Beacon's information, restructure and forward Major, Minor, and RSSI to NB-IoT or LTE-M network. Then the APP receives the information from an MQTT/HTTP server. Since the server knows the beacons’ coordinates, it can calculate trackers’ coordinates according to the RSSI and display them in the APP.
