What is "B-Mobile® Solution"?

“B-Mobile” refers to “Bluetooth Beacon“ Mobile.
In this solution, Bluetooth Beacons are deployed on assets or personnel, Bluetooth Gateways are deployed at fixed locations.

How it works?

Lansitec B-Mobile® Solution allows you to track mobile assets and people by combining Bluetooth beacons worn by personnel or attached to assets with LoRaWAN or NB-IoT/LTE-M enabled gateways. The beacons advertise their presence which is picked up by nearby gateways. The gateways then transmit the beacon data over long-range networks, allowing you to track locations.

LoRaWAN Device provides you a wide-range and low-power tracking experience.

Utilize the long-range and low-power benefits of the LoRaWAN protocol to track roving assets and personnel across large areas. With up to 5 km range in urban and 20+ km in rural environments, LoRaWAN gateways provide ample coverage for mobile tracking applications.

The LoRaWAN variant leverages Chirp Spread Spectrum modulation for resilience to interference when tracking assets and people across vast outdoor and indoor areas. Bluetooth gateways placed strategically across a site detect Bluetooth beacons worn by personnel or attached to assets that roam into range. The gateways transmit the beacon data over LoRaWAN.

The Bluetooth beacons’ battery life may exceed 5 years. That enables persistent tracking of assets and workers as they traverse widespread locations.

Device Deployment and Data Flow

Network Setup

Deploy Bluetooth gateways at fixed locations. Personnel wears Bluetooth badges/bracelets and messages are sent to the nearby Bluetooth gateways. The Bluetooth gateways then forwards the received information to the server via the wireless LoRa network. Finally, the location of personnel is calculated by the server.
Other forms of Bluetooth devices installed on the assets can also be used for asset tracking management, such as such as vehile tracking and key tracking in a dealership, or asset tracking in a hospital.

NB-IoT/LTE-M enables ultra-reliable tracking of mobile assets and personnel by utilizing nationwide cellular infrastructure. With coverage across cities, states, and countries, NB-IoT allows roaming items to be tracked virtually anywhere.

NB-IoT optimizes standard cellular networks to support massive scalability for tracking mobile assets and people across huge regions. Bluetooth-enabled gateways at strategic locations detect badge and asset beacons passing within range. The gateways relay the Bluetooth data points over Cellular networks.

While not as power efficient as LoRaWAN, NB-IoT gateways can still achieve multi-month operation on batteries due to optimized transmission protocols. Periodic charging is required to sustain continuous gateway coverage.

Device Deployment and Data Flow

Network Setup

Personnel wears a badge tracker which collects the nearby Bluetooth beacon messages.
The badge tracker then forwards Major, Minor, and RSSI to the server via the wireless LoRa network.
Since the server knows the coordinates of the beacon, the server calculates the tracker’s location with the Algorithm.
Lansitec trackers support asset management too. They receive nearby asset beacons’ messages and forward them to the server. Asset beacons and positioning beacons have different UUIDs.
